--- WINTER STORM WARNING --- The National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 6 PM Tuesday for the I-35 Corridor and Coastal Plains. WHAT: Heavy mixed precipitation expected I-35 Corridor and Coastal Plains. Total snow and sleet accumulations from and dusting up to 1 1/2 inches and total ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. IMPACTS: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Refreezing is expected Tuesday evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 800-452-9292, or by going to drivetexas.org. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.
